 We often see patients in our office who need braces to help straighten out their teeth and improve their smile, but some are concerned about the wires and hardware that go along with it. Invisalign is simple to use, cost-effective, and can provide the same benefits as regular braces, without being so noticeable in the mouth. What Is Invisalign?
When our patients inquire about braces to help adjust their teeth, many will ask us about Invisalign. Invisalign is a form of braces that rely on a clear tray of aligners instead of the wires that come with traditional braces. Our office will make molds of your mouth and then send these in so Invisalign can create a plastic tray that fits your mouth perfectly.
You would receive several sets of trays. Patients will need to replace their aligners once every week or two. Each replacement tray is meant to slightly move the teeth a little each time. The number of times that these trays need to be replaced will depend on your teeth and how well they respond to the treatment. We can monitor this in our office and advise you on when you should move to the next tray.
We recommend that our patients wear the Invisalign most of the day, usually between twenty to twenty-two hours a day. It is fine to remove the trays when you want to eat, brush your teeth, and floss. As long as you wear the trays most of the day, they can complete their work of moving the teeth and getting everything straight and even.
What Are the Benefits of Getting Invisalign Instead of Braces?
Many of our patients prefer to use Invisalign for their teeth compared to braces. Braces can feel bulky and uncomfortable, and most people feel self-conscious about wearing them, despite the benefits of straightening your teeth. Invisalign provides another option, allowing you to provide proper care for your teeth without having to wear all the wires.
Invisalign is almost invisible, making it harder to tell you even have them in your mouth at all. They are also easier to remove when you eat or clean your teeth. A big problem with traditional braces is trying to clean the teeth while they are on. Invisalign helps eliminate this problem. Our office can also complete treatment with Invisalign in about the same amount of time as traditional braces, so you will not need to use Invisalign for a longer amount of time.
With the way Invisalign works, and how it is molded to your teeth, many of our patients require fewer visits to our offices while straightening their teeth. The trays gradually move the teeth compared to traditional braces while fitting better, and providing more comfort while improving your smile.
