Personalized Patient Care

Good oral health is essential to overall well being. That's why we work closely with each patient to develop a customized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and goals. Whether you're due for a routine cleaning or you're in need of a more complex procedure, our team will provide you with the highest level of care.

Patient Comfort

We go to great lengths to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for our patients. Your comfort comes first, because we want to ensure that you have the best experience in our care. From the moment you step into our office, you'll be greeted by our friendly staff who are dedicated to making your visit a positive experience. We also offer sedation dentistry options to ensure that our patients are comfortable, and at ease.

Sedation Dentistry

Dental anxiety and dental phobias may require sedation dentistry to ensure that the patient is comfortable. We offer a range of sedation options, including:

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a mild form of sedation that is also known as laughing gas. It is a proven form of sedation that has helped patients for decades. Nitrous oxide has a quick onset, which makes for a faster appointment, and a quick offset, which means that patients can drive home after treatment. Nitrous oxide is the gold standard of dental sedation.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is a common, simple form of sedation that helps patients relax during dental procedures. We ask patients to take the oral sedation prescription medication in pill form before the appointment. The sedative drugs induce a state of calm and drowsiness, but still allow our patients to remain conscious and responsive. Oral sedation is a moderate form of sedation, which makes it suitable for patients with mild to moderate anxiety, or our patients who are undergoing longer, more complex procedures. Patients often feel groggy and have limited memory of the treatment, which may be beneficial for those with dental anxiety.

IV and General Anesthesia

Intravenous (IV) sedation and general anesthesia are advanced sedation techniques used in dentistry for complex procedures, and patients with dental phobia. IV sedation is the administration of sedative drugs directly into the bloodstream. This allows precise control of the sedation levels. Patients under IV sedation enter a twilight state where they are deeply relaxed but still responsive.

General anesthesia, on the other hand, renders patients completely unconscious and is typically reserved for extensive oral surgeries or patients with special needs. These techniques offer anxiety relief and pain control, but they also carry increased risks and require more intensive monitoring compared to the other forms of sedation.

FAQ

Our team understands that new patients have many questions before a procedure, and before visiting a new practice.

How often should I visit the dentist?

We recommend a check up and professional cleaning every six months. However, some patients require more frequent visits for their individual oral health needs.

What are your office hours?

Our Dupont Circle Washington DC office is open from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday.

We are closed on weekends and major holidays.

Do you offer emergency dental care?

If you're experiencing an urgent dental issue, please call our office immediately and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Yes, we are in-network with a number of dental insurance providers. You can call our team at 202-978-8778, and we will be happy to verify your coverage and submit claims on your behalf.

What should I do if I have a toothache?

Rinse your mouth with warm water, use dental floss to remove any lodged food, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed. If pain persists, please contact us.

Are x-rays safe?

Yes, dental x-rays are perfectly safe. The amount of radiation exposure is very low, and our team takes precautions to minimize exposure.

What causes sensitive teeth?

Tooth sensitivity can be caused by worn enamel, exposed roots, cavities, cracked teeth, or gum disease.

How can I whiten my teeth?

There are several options for teeth whitening: over-the-counter whitening products, professional whitening in our offices, or take home kits. Over the counter whitening products take much longer to produce a noticeable effect. Prescription take home kits produce results faster than over the counter options, but professional whitening here in our offices produces the fastest noticeable effect.
